Tesco Bengaluru recognised 34 colleagues who complete 10 years in this calendar year at a celebration event on 9th July themed – ‘First Among Equals’. It was a special moment for our pioneers as their family members and colleagues joined the celebration and shared their views and thoughts on the their journey so far.

Tesco Bengaluru’s first CEO Meena Ganesh took part in the celebrations and shared her best wishes with our colleagues. She has also shared her views on the humble beginnings of Tesco Bengaluru and how it has grown from strength to strength.

Sudheesh Venkatesh, our first HR Head spoke about the initial challenges in building Tesco Bengaluru’s brand. He said that the colleagues’ long career is “a remarkable test of grit, loyalty and reflects Tesco Bengaluru’s ability to provide long rewarding careers”. “In each brick of the campus you can see the blood, sweat and tears of our pioneers”, he added.

Tesco Bengaluru began operations in 2004 with a team of 6 colleagues. No one would have imagined then that that team operating out of a small office in Vydehi Hospital campus would grow to over 6500 so soon. Today, these pioneers look back with pride at Tesco Bengaluru’s memorable history and scale of operation that befits Tesco’s global business.

Tesco Leadership acknowledged the hard work that has gone into creating such a fascinating team in a decade.

Glen Attewell, CEO, presented the awards and spoke of Tesco Bengaluru culture as supportive, values-driven and “very Tesco”.

Nick Williams, HR Director spoke of “inclusiveness”, “treating others how you like to be treated”, “camaraderie and team spirit” as the hallmarks of Tesco Bengaluru which has come to be recognised as one of the best over all functional Global In-house Centres.

On the side-lines of this remarkable event, we conducted a Twitter campaign and invited colleagues to share their views and congratulate the Pioneers**. Pramod Thimmaiah** from Business services wins the #1stAtTescoHSC Twitter Contest. His prize winning tweet:

“In a world where relationships don't last long, spending 10 precious years at @Tesco_HSC is an amazing feat. Proud of you all. #1stAtTescoHSC”. Congratulations Pramod!

If you know our pioneers personally, do share your wishes on Facebook and Twitter.
